Fitting out the space
Altogether Otherwise is made up of two shop front units, with a large warehouse at the back. Originally the building was the Avery weighing scales factory and then a printing press for the Co-Operative.
Since securing the building in September 2023, I have worked for Altogether otherwise to develop the physical space. From initial structural work, partitioning the 14,00sq ft back room into a selection of smaller studios/workshops. Enclosing the car park to create a garden space, grinding / finishing the concrete floor.
Developing the space and furnishing
Once major work had been completed I began to work on the interior design and fit out.
-  I designed and fitted a shop in the front, this was constructed from oak and valcromat.
- With a low budget for the build I used economical materials for event furniture, such as PSE Pine.  Making a fleet of Enzo Mari collapsable tables, and stalls for the space from this.
- Fitted a small commercial kitchen
- A pottery studio (https://www.ballpitpottery.com/about)
Facilitating workshops.
Whittling, weaving, wheel thrown pottery and much more. Welcoming over 1000 participants each month.
Video below documents 'The throw aways' which was a weekly pottery club I ran at Altogether Otherwise.
A free to attend, 2 hour session designed for absolute beginners. From 10 - 30 participants would pop by and try their hand at making some pots off of the hump.
